through increased access to culturally appropriate healthy foods, youth skills development, and economic

POSITION SUMMARY: AfriThrive is seeking a dynamic individual to serve as Associate Director,
responsible for the day-to-day management of our growing programs in Baltimore. This position plays a
critical role in ensuring outstanding outcomes for underserved immigrant families by collaborating with
various stakeholders, interpreting relevant data, and advocating for necessary policy changes. The ideal
candidate will be passionate about our mission, self-driven, persuasive, and ready to contribute to achieving
the mission, vision, and strategic direction of the organization.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership
• Provide strategic leadership and insights to achieve the organization’s goals and objectives.
• Direct, manage, coordinate, and monitor all programs and initiatives in Baltimore.
• In collaboration with the CEO and grants/development teams, recognize and capitalize on
opportunities to design, enhance, or expand programs.
• Represent AfriThrive in various committees, coalitions, and working groups related to our mission.
• Engage with local leaders, stakeholders, and other partners to drive policy changes that will benefit
underserved communities.

Program management
• Analyze and utilize data consistently to refine strategy and/or operating plans when necessary to drive
greater impact and/or better program outcomes.
• Oversees key AfriThrive initiatives, including but not limited to the Health Food Initiative, Youth
Mentorship, and community engagement initiatives such as Balozi advocacy.
• Prepare an annual operational budget, oversee effective financial management within the allocated
budget, and report on financial progress and challenges.
• Ensure that program staff adhere to various funder requirements and oversee the enforcement of
compliance standards.
• Identify and secure new grant funding, track and monitor grants, and develop funder reports.

• Foster and manage relationships with local government officials, funding agencies, and community
partners concerning program requirements, budgets, compliance, and effectiveness.

Team Development & Management
• Recruit, develop and mentor staff to support the effective implementation of our programs and services.
• Implement staff development program and establish performance measures.
• Model a culture of learning and supportive work environment.

Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree in related field preferred.
• 6+ leadership and managerial experience, preferably in a non-profit setting with significant
supervisory experience.
• Strong understanding and knowledge of Baltimore County’s social landscape and the challenges faced
by underserved immigrant communities.
• Strong project management skills with ability to prioritize tasks, efficiently manage timelines, and
effectively execute projects with limited supervision and according to established deadlines.
• Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to think strategically, implement
company policies and procedures, and thrive in a cross-cultural working environment.
• Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective relationships and partnerships with key
stakeholders.
• Strong budgeting, financial management, and resource development skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills to give presentations and draft reports.
• A passion for AfriThrive’s mission and a commitment to the African immigrant communities we serve.
• Candidates residing in the Baltimore Metro Area, Maryland local area preferred.

Compensation & Benefits
This is a regular, full-time, exempt position. The salary range for this position is $65,000 to $85,000,
commensurate with experience. Comprehensive benefits package offered, encompassing fully covered
health insurance (medical, dental, and vision), 10 days paid vacation, which increases with tenure, 10 paid
sick days, and 3 personal days per year.

Program Manager (PM)
Summary: The Program Manager is crucial for the strategic and operational excellence of AfriThrive’s
programs. The PM will be responsible for overseeing the comprehensive management of program activities,
operations, and teams. Reporting directly to the Associate Director, the PM will drive the strategic direction
of AfriThrive’s initiatives, ensuring consistency, efficacy, and sustainability.

 

Key Responsibilities:
Program Management:
• Oversee the planning, execution, and evaluation of AfriThrive’s programs, ensuring alignment
with organizational objectives.
• Develop strategies and plans for the effective running of programs, ensuring timely deliverables.
• Evaluate program performance using qualitative and quantitative measures to ensure efficacy,
impact, and sustainability.

 

Program Operations:
• Manage the day-to-day operations of the programs, ensuring smooth and efficient processes.
• Oversee budgeting, financial tracking, and resource allocation for maximum operational
efficiency.
• Liaise with stakeholders, partners, and other relevant bodies to ensure operational excellence and
adherence to compliance standards.

 

Team Management:
• Lead, mentor, and develop the program team, ensuring optimal performance and growth.
• Facilitate inter-departmental collaboration to ensure alignment in goals and objectives.

• Handle any conflicts, challenges, or opportunities that arise, ensuring a positive and productive
team environment.

 

Qualifications:
• Proven experience in program management and operations, preferably in a similar setting.
• Strong leadership skills with a history of team management and development.
• Exceptional organizational, strategic, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work in a multidisciplinary setting and foster collaboration both internally and
externally.
• Proficient in budget management, resource allocation, and operational best practices.

Healthy Food Education Program Manager

The position will be an integral part of a small, dynamic team. The Healthy Food Education Program Manager will plan, coordinate, and deliver our culturally appropriate Healthy Food Initiative program. This position collaborates with Baltimore County community partners for Nawisha “Nourish” Food Hub Pantry for Better Health project that seeks to increase access to healthy culturally appropriate nutritious foods for people experiencing food insecurity; engage program volunteers and deliver nutrition education to community members; lead new nutrition initiatives, including healthcare partnerships to support healthy eating; and evaluate programs for greater impact.
