AfriThrive Farm Sites

Where Culture Grows, Community Thrives, and every seed tells a Story of resilient, thriving families.

Let's Take Action

We invite you to explore our farms, and invest in a future where every family thrives.

AfriThrive farm sites are places where families come together to grow food, share traditions, and build a healthier future. These are not just gardens. They are learning spaces, cultural spaces, and community spaces.

At each location, we focus on growing African vegetables, teaching gardening skills, and helping families connect to the land and to one another. Whether you are new to gardening or want to give back, there is a place for you here.

Poolesville Cultural Farm

The AfriThrive Cultural Farm is a place where African heritage comes to life. We grow crops like pumpkin leaves, spider plant, and amaranth greens that connect families to their roots. Children and elders work side by side, sharing knowledge and building a future that values both health and history.

This farm offers workshops, learning tours, and community volunteer days that bring people together. It is also home to our Beginner Farmers Program, which provides support and training to help new growers get started.

Catch Them While They're Young

Kemp Mill Elementary School Garden

At Kemp Mill Elementary, students grow their own food right outside the classroom. They learn about soil, seeds, and sustainability while harvesting vegetables that nourish their families. The garden helps build healthy habits and teaches the next generation how to care for the earth.

It is also a way for families to get involved with their children’s learning and connect with the wider community.

Your support helps us expand school gardens and reach more young learners.

Briggs Chaney Community Garden

This community garden is a space for growing, sharing, and healing. Families and neighbors work together to grow vegetables, support each other, and build community strength. New gardeners join through our Beginner Farmer Program and gain the skills they need to grow their own healthy food.

The garden brings joy, connection, and pride to everyone who plants there.

G. Kamau Maryland

This farm reminded me of home. I grew up farming in Kenya, and now I get to teach my children the same skills here. It means everything to me.

Mrs. K Teacher

My students love the garden. They are always excited to check on their plants. It helps them eat more vegetables at home too. The lessons they learn here stay with them.

Elizabeth Gardner

Before joining the Beginner Farmer Program, I had never grown anything. Now, I harvest food every week for my family. It saves us money and makes me proud.
